There are only 63 days left until the new year?! What projects do you hope to get accomplished in 2016? Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting with Vann Foti, one of the talented and knowledgeable staff members at Southern Kitchen in Bath in Birmingham, AL. Many of our customers have worked closely with Vann, making selections for their remodeling project. I decided to make a visit myself and highlight some of the trends that can help you when planning your remodel.
If you have heard it once, you have heard it 1000 times, jet tubs are OUT. Soaking tubs are IN. Vann noted that many customers don't want to hassle with the maintenance and cleaning of a jet tub. If you're in the market, many of the soaking tubs even come with heating elements in them so your bath water won't get cold! As far as fixtures go, many customers choose shower heads with hand held showers, not only for bathing, but they are also handy when it comes time to clean your bathroom (or bathe your family pet)!
Choreograph- isn't that for dance class? NO, it is a new product that recently made its debut by Kohler. Think of it as a way to build your bathroom
Whether you are shopping for a bath or kitchen remodel, We have heard metallics are going to be huge for 2016. For many of Vann's customers, tried and true still prove to be the winner. Popular finishes include nickel, stainless steel, oil rubbed bronze and satin bronze. If these don't float your boat, go big and go satin brass!
The Kitchen- Still the heart of the home
No matter how big or small your kitchen is, it will always be the gathering spot for any social occasion! I wanted to share with you just a few things that grabbed my attention in the showroom!
The AGA cast iron range. What's not to love? While I know it won't be on many Pinterest boards for a typical, traditional remodel, it would be FABULOUS for a lake house, hunting camp or mountain house. It comes in a variety of colors, can stay on 24 hours a day, and heats so well that one of Vann's customers has even dried her jeans ON it! The con? Get out your checkbook! It's NOT the most affordable option in the showroom!
Another favorite find of the day was the Viking french door wall oven. Even though it has two handles, when you open one door, the other opens simultaneously. Wonderful news when putting heavy casseroles or a holiday ham in the oven!
The Kitchen Aid Preserva is beautiful! Not only on the outside, but also on the inside! It has a platinum interior, LED lighting, and storage galore! The freezer even has a storage area for frozen pizza. Every inch of storage was thought out in both the fridge and freezer!
